We saw Zap Mama at the Triple Door on 9/15, and it was absolutely fantastic! She has a great stage presence, totally in control and enjoying herself...the way her voice, dancing, and gestures blend together was fun to see. The music was great, described in her bio as "somewhere between soul, gospel, pygmy song and Afro-Cuban rhythms." She even managed to get us up to shake our rumps during several numbers, even though we were stuffed with dinner and wine (the Triple Door is sort of a dinner-theater setting). I'm new to her music but I really enjoyed her and her show, so I'll be seeing her again when I can!
